Connecting a WII to a 2010 Samsung LED TV?

I'm having trouble connecting a W II to my new Samsung LED tv. I've got the older cables (red, yellow white) and I'm wondering if I have to get the new composite cables, or some other cable to get it to attach to the back, as there are fewer ports to attach things to. Help... Not very TV savvy!

admin answers:

The composite video cable that came with the Wii should work just fine. Just be sure you're connecting it to the composite video input on the back of the TV. Unfortunately most HDTVs crowd the inputs together and it's sometimes difficult to know which ones are grouped together. Match the color of the cable to the port on the TV. (yellow to yellow, red to red, white to white)

While the Wii can support component video (uses blue, green red video cables) I really wouldn't bother as the Wii does not support HD at all, so the picture improvement will be minimal.

Robert asks…

Which is the best Samsung LED TV to get?

I am trying to look for a 40in. LED TV from Samsung. I cannot tell the difference between the UN40b7000/6000 and the LN40b7000/6000. Can anyone tell be the difference in terms of specs such as contrast ratio, 120/240hz motion engine, and response times between these TV's? I am trying to look for the one with good specs but not going over $2100.

admin answers:

First: There is no LN40B6000 or LN40B7000 in the official 2009 Samsung product line. The official product numbering for the LED HDTVs starts with the initials "UN".

Second: The only 40" LED TV announced by Samsung so far is the UN40B6000 (there is a UN46B6000, UN46B7000 and a UN46B7100 though).

Third: There is no difference in picture quality between the 6000, 7000 or 7100 nor is there a difference in refresh rates (120 Hz). The 7000 & 7100 add the content library, Internet TV & DLNA Networking over the 6000.

Fourth: The UB40B6000 lists for $2,299.99. Sears and Samsung have a 10% off deal for the next few weeks that can get you under your $2100 target.

Linda asks…

how do i fix the picture on my samsung led tv?

I recently bought the samsung series 6 6300 tv. The picture looks really weird when I stretch the picture to fit the screen so I use the 4:3 size but I was wonder if there was a way to use the whole screen and still have the picture look good. Can anyone help with this?

admin answers:

Where is your TV signal coming from? Are you giving the TV a high def signal?

>I was wonder if there was a way to use the whole screen and still have the picture look good<

Think about this for a moment. If your TV is getting a 16:9 aspect ratio high def picture, it automatically fills the entire screen.

On the other hand, if your TV is only getting a standard def signal, then we know the picture has a 4:3 aspect ratio and you have those empty spaces on the left and right to deal with, which is what you are complaining about.

What can your TV do to deal with that empty space?

The choices are pretty limited. You can expand the entire picture horizontally, which makes everyone look fat or you can expand the entire picture equally, which will cut off information at the top and bottom of the screen. Those are the ONLY choices!

I'm guessing from your question that you are not getting a high def signal from whatever the source is. If nothing else, at least put up an antenna so you can get broadcast high def. Otherwise, you have essentially wasted your money by buying a TV you are not taking advantage of.

My Samsung LED TV has light spots when in a black screen?

I notice it when changing channel and there is a black screen, there are random faint patches of white. I just bought the TV, isit anything to worry about, should I return it to amazon ?

admin answers:

Return it as soon as possible, It's a faulty pixel in the actual display electronics, It's not dangerous in any way, but I'd return it, get your money back and then buy a new one.

How can I download music onto my Samsung Sprint Instinct phone?

I have a new Instinct phone from sprint. I am wondering how to download songs onto it. It has a micro sd card with the mini sd adapter that fits in my computer. What websites can I download music from and how do I get the music onto the card and into my phone? Also once the music is in my phone is it possible to use it as a ring tone?

admin answers:

try www.myxer.com straight from the phones browser to download ring tones. and download the music just hook up ur phone to ur comp with the USB cable after u installed the software that came with the phone or just by inserting the micro sd card into the adapter then into ur card read and just transfer the music, photos, and videos that way. but u cant use ur music as a ring tone right now their might be a way to do it later on.

Linda asks…

What are the pros and cons of a Samsung Instinct cell phone?

I'm pondering getting the Samsung Instinct but I want to know if it's worth the 130 bucks, so tell me the pros and cons! Thanks!

Oh, and my provider is Sprint so if you have any other cell suggestions, they're greatly appreciated :)

admin answers:

I dont know about cons about it but I really like mine. I have had it for about 5 months now.

Pro's are:
Comes with 2 batteries and seperate charger.
2 gigs of storage.
holds 9 hours of video, I still have 6000 pictures I can take with it, pictures come out really nice as well and so does the videos shot with it.
Voice navigation GPS. turn by turn directions.

I'm probably not the best person for this since this is the nicest phone I have ever had and no I'm not a kid. I have had a cell of some kind for 10 years now lol.

I think you will like it if you decide to get one.

How do I connect my macbook to my samsung TV?

I am trying to connect my 13 inch macbook 2.2 ghz (http://www.macworld.com/product/hardware/134/detail.html) to my samsung tv HL-S5087W (http://reviews.cnet.com/projection-tvs/samsung-hl-s5087w/4505-6484_7-31871646.html) so that I can view my computer screen on the TV.

What connection cables do I need to buy and where can I get them? Preferably radio shack...

Thanks in advance!

admin answers:

I don't think Radio Shack carries the adapter you need, but if you want to try to find it there, this is what you need:

- An Apple miniDVI-to-DVI adapter, and

- A DVI-to-HDMI cable.

That's how you connect your Macbook's miniDVI port to the HDTV's HDMI input.

Hope this helps.

Susan asks…

Is Samsung LN-T4071F 40" LCD TV a good HDTV? (link)?

I bought it at Best Buy about a year ago for $2500.
I am not too sure if they have already made more better tv's or should i keep this until the "next big thing" comes out?
http://www.retrevo.com/s/Samsung-LN-T4071F-TVs-review-manual/id/3379ci454/t/1-2/

admin answers:

I have the same set in 46 inch (LN-T4671F) and I'd buy it again. I'd say that the picture you're getting now is as good as can be had, with a decent input source. I don't see a reason for you to upgrade unless you want a much bigger screen.

Thomas asks…

Confused on which Samsung TV to get?

I was going to order a 50" Samsung online because I am able to find them cheaper than in the stores. One of them that I found is $799 and the 2009 model. It has great reviews and I don't have to pay tax or shipping. Sounds great to me.

The other one I found is the 2010 model that hasn't came out yet and it is $50 LESS than the 09 model? Once again, free shipping and no tax but it wont arrive until March 3rd.

I don't get why it's $50 less than the older model, though!!? It states that it uses up to 43% less energy which seems great because the TV is on a lot here because someone is always home between my husband and myself.

Would you choose the TV you know has good reviews, is $50 more and is last years model or would you go for the newer one? Help :)
To the second poster...

Before reading this, I actually went ahead and got a 50" Panny (720p... we are far enough away from the TV that it REALLY doesn't matter for us). It cost $787 shipped. My brother who is big into TV's actually ordered the same one tonight so I feel like I made a good choice. I'll be choosing yours as best answer when it allows me to :)

admin answers:

Looks like you are looking at a Plasma TV. 50" are Plasma TVs and at the price of $799. You did not mention the model number of the tv at all. I would stay away from any model lower than the 550.
The price is lower due to the cost of building them have come down. Samsung also have had problems with the power board going out on there tvs. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs. You will notice that Panasonic has a tv recommended in each of the price category of entry level to the high end. While Sony, Samsung and Toshiba does not (December issue). Panasonic also has the best customer service support center when you need help. You can get a 50" 1080P Panasonic Plasma tv for less the $1,000. Check out Costco for pricing and they also offer you 90 days return policy and one extra year of factory warranty. One thing about shopping on line is if you have problems, if will cost you allot to ship the tv back to the seller. Which normally they will just refer you the the manufacturer. So you might save on tax and shipping cost now, in the end it will be the same. Hope this will help you out.

How to put videos onto a Samsung Blackjack 2?

I recently purchased a Samsung Blackjack 2 along with a 4gb storage card for it. I have a video I created on Sony Vegas and was wondering if I am able to move it from there onto the phone. If possible, how would I? Please include how I would save it as whichever necessary file such as avi or whatever is needed, and how to move the file onto my phone.

admin answers:

Connect your blackjack 2 to your computer then drag or copy and paste the video in your my videos folder and there you go. The videos aren't the best quality but it still works. (No need to convert it does it for you.) You dont have to have any type of specific format just any video you want just make sure you still have space on your cell phone

Can I use my Samsung Blackjack II as some form of internet for my laptop?

Is there anything I can download to hook up my Samsung Blackjack II to my laptop and receive wireless signal on my laptop anywhere, as I do with my phone? I want to use my laptop in the car on a road trip on Monday, and this is the only way I can figure out how. My laptop is a HP Pavilion, with windows XP. Any ideas/suggestions?

It's possible to use a lot of smart phones as modems, but I believe ATT requires you to have a certain pay service to do it. Check their website.

How do I open or send a multimedia message on my Samsung Blackjack 2?

I just got a Samsung Blackjack 2, and was told that I wouldn't need the internet service to open my multimedia messages, but they keep trying to connect to the internet to open, but then can't because i don't have a data plan on my phone...is there another setting or something?

admin answers:

If you mean multimedia messages as in picture messages and such, you go to the messages folder/icon in your Start menu. It should say A Messages B New E-mail account. Pick A Messages. Then when your in it should have a menu option at the bottom. Press that and press new. the new option should branch you to text or multimedia. As for your problem with opening them, I'm not sure because I've never had that problem. You should call your provider if it still doesn't work out for you.

does VIZIO make their own tv parts?

when i was at best buy they said INSIGNIA tvs are made of Toshiba and LG parts. what kind of parts do VIZIO tvs use? i assume brands like SONY and SAMSUNG make their own parts right?

admin answers:

Vizio is too small a company to make their own chip level parts.

Sony and Samsung are large enough to make their own chips and such.

A small handful of companies make display panels though.

Mary asks…

I have a plasma 42" Samsung TV there are scratches NOT on the screen but one on the black part around it?

The TV was refurbished and came with them. But I think that there might be some special wax or something to make the scraches go away. Mabye a website or something?

admin answers:

Is it the glossy surround? If so, they do mark very easily, which is a shame because the Samsung TVs looks great!
I sell alot of them on style alone, but do notice in the shop if wiped with wrong cloth or if grit on it, scratches appear all the time!

I haven't yet heard of anything to help remove them, apart from using proper screen cleaner and very soft microfibre cloth, which just makes the unit look nice, new and shiny, which in turn hides the scratches or marks a little?

By using this type of cloth will help prevent more marks in the future!

All the best!
